                    Some facts about the DRC

 

The DRC is the 2nd biggest country in

                      Africa  after Algeria. 

The capital is Kinshasa 12 Million souls.

The DRC is the most populous country in

      the  world where French is the official

      language.  The population is 70

                        million souls.

The World Monetary Fund lists it as the

              poorest country in the world.

The DRC borders Central African Republic and Sudan (North), Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi to East, Zambia, and Angola (South) and Republic of Congo (West).

                 It has a tropical climate.

About 90 % of population are Christians.

The DRC is as big as all of the USA east of                      the Mississipi river.

It has a coastline of only 17 miles - where the Congo river flows into the Atlantic                            Ocean.

It is the 18th most populous country in the

                  world.

This country has various features of geography with mountain ranges in its north and west, volcanoes and lakes in its Kivu region, a central plain with the mighty Congo flowing through it.

 

Industry: Mining (diamonds, copper, zinc), mineral processing, consumer                                products.

Agriculture: Coffee, sugar, palm oil,                                  rubber; wood products

Exports: Diamonds, copper, crude oil,                           coffee, cobalt.
